Welcome to ArctiCircle Alaskan Malamutes!
We are a small, family run, breeding program located just outside of Ames, Iowa. Our Malamutes compete in conformation, obedience, rally, FastCat and weight pulling. We are an AKC Breeder of Merit and an AKC Bred with Heart breeder. We are members of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America, Alaskan Malamute Club of Wisconsin, and the Great Lakes Alaskan Malamute Club. Jordana is also an AKC CGC / Trick dog evaluator.
Jordana is going on 10 years as a Veterinary assistant and is currently working on completing her genetics degree at Iowa State University.
Since this wonderful endeavor started with hours of learning, she decided when AKC released a breeder education program, she would take all of the courses as a way to show how dedicated she is to breeding healthy, well-structured and well-mannered puppies! You can view her certificates for completing each course below. She has been a part of the AKC Bred With Heart program since 2018. The Bred With Heart program was made to recognize breeders that are performing the recommended health tests before breeding and are continuously taking breeder education courses.
As someone who has worked in a family owned Veterinary clinic for years, she has seen many puppies that are found to have health problems during their first few visits. While a breeder cannot predict every health problem a puppy may have, there is a way for EVERY breeder to lower the incidence of certain health problems; this is by having ALL of their breeding dogs OFA health tested before they are bred.
All of our Alaskan Malamutes are OFA health tested for hips, heart, eyes, patella, polyneuropathy (PN), CD, and PCD before being bred, as a way to do our part in lowering the incidence of health problems within this wonderful breed.
